Starting a career in digital media and marketing after the dot-com crash of the late 90’s was really hard…
I spent days, weeks even, of my early career first learning digital marketing, to then demonstrate and communicate the benefits of investing in digital marketing channels.
Through this process, I gained a great deal of practise unpacking, de-‘geeking’, and communicating digital marketing strategies so I could get my point across. Some client’s went so far to say I even made this process funny and engaging.
After several agency positions across three continents, I ventured out on my own to be an early digital consultant around 2008.
Through this consulting journey to find clients, I started teaching digital marketing for a national marketing association.
One participant posed this question to me after a 13 week course, “You are really good at this, why don’t you do this full time?” I ignored this advice for at least 2 years… and finally then, I followed his advice, and digitalbrief was born.
Through years of learning program development, feedback, and refinement, we have two primary beliefs we bring into all workshops:
- Our digital marketing workshops are not just informative, they must be engaging. The training experience is as important as the knowledge we cover.
- We must deliver a balanced perspective, both for and against the merits of digital channel strategies. We need to highlight the good, and the not-so-good of digital channels.
