Having taught a digital marketing certificate course for almost 8 years in a variety of formats, I can tell you the depth of knowledge you learn in comparison to other learning programs is the major difference.
In many programs, guest speakers are introduced to bring an outside perspective beyond the tutors and companies experience.
The networking amongst peers is also a great way to establish connections beyond your company. This is particularly important for those who are at an early stage of their marketing career.
For those in a junior to mid-level career, a certificate in digital marketing is a great talking point on your CV or LinkedIn profile. In many instances you’ll have lots of digital strategies, channels and techniques to talk about with your potential employer. Speaking to marketing recruiters, I can tell you it’s highly regarded, especially if your manager is not as confident in digital as they would like to be!

Face-to-face evening classes – Just when it’s time to head home, it’s off to marketing class we go! This is often run on a Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
Face-to-face during business hours – Instead of heading to work, you’ll be heading to class. These usually happen over a period of 2-3 months held in CBD locations across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Workshops are generally 9:00 am – 5:00 pm with regular breaks. This is a great way to balance learning without eating into too much of your personal time. But don’t forget, there is group work and assessment to do outside of class.
Online – If you are an individual who is committed to learning in your own environment, at least 2 providers in the industry currently offer the qualification online. Be wary that the quality of learning is just not the same as face to face. It’s very difficult to ask a video, infographic or table a question! Whilst you may be able to email a tutor, it is still no substitute for being in front of a tutor with a small group of people.
